FAQ’s – Frequently Asked Questions
Below are several questions that we frequently get asked here at the Belly Up. If you need more information, or have another question, please contact our box office at 858 481 8140.

1. What is the Belly Up and how can I see it? The Belly Up is a live music venue, located in Solana Beach, California. We have all types of music almost every night. We do serve limited bar food and alcohol as well. The box office is open from noon until end of show on nights of shows. When we do not have a show, the box office is open from noon – 5pm. You may also step next door to the Wild Note Café, our neighborhood bistro-style restaurant with exciting food.
Parking is free at the Belly Up, and is located right on the side of the club. Street parking is also available.

3. I am 19, but have a fake ID, can I get in? Or, I have a son / daughter / cousin that is under 21…and it’s their favorite band playing tonight. Any way of getting them in? Unfortunately, we are 21 and over, and we abide by that policy at all times – no exceptions!

4. How do I know who is playing, and what they sound like? Go to the “Calendar” section of our website, click on the band name and if it’s available, we will have posted a description of the band, as well as a song or two of theirs. We have also added Belly Up radio, which gives you the option to let it play and listen to some new artists you like. Most new shows are announced and updated on our website Monday mornings.

We have calendars inside the club that you can grab and take home with you. To get the most updated show announcements and to buy tickets before the general public, sign up for our Belly Up e-mail list on our website. It’s free to sign up, and Belly UP VIP’s get special perks through the year including meet and greets, free tickets and VIP seating.

5. I’m ready to rock! What should I wear? The Belly Up does not enforce a dress code, but we do require you to wear clothes – and footwear. Don’t forget your ID!

6. How do I buy tickets? We try to make purchasing tickets as easy and affordable for our patrons as possible. By phone, you can call our box office at 858 481 8140, internet – www.bellyup.com, or in person at our box office. We accept most credit cards and cash, and there is an ATM onsite. There is no service charge on tickets purchased at our box office.

7. I bought a general admission ticket – am I guaranteed a seat? If not, how do I get one?* Seating for general admission tickets, are first come, first serve. We recommend eating dinner at the restaurant next door, Wild Note Café, before so you could get in through the line at the Wild Note, and beat the crowd outside. 8. We want to make a night of it – do you have hotel recommendations? We sure do:

9. If you have tickets and can not attend All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges unless a show is cancelled or postponed and you can’t make the new date.

10 What if we need handicap assistance? The Belly Up is handicap accessible. Please contact the box office at least 24 hours prior to the show if you need assistance.

11. I’ve heard the Belly Up hosts amazing parties, and I want to play rock star for a night. How can I rent out the club for my birthday / wedding / company party?
Belly Up parties are fun no matter how large or small your group is! Please call Beth Bennett at 858 481 8040 to book your next party at the Belly Up.

12. We are a band and are sure we can sell out the Belly Up, even though we don’t know the capacity. Plus our relatives think we are great. Who should I contact? We prefer EPK’s (electronic press kits) to receiving press kits in the mail. You can e-mail booking@bellyup.com.

13. Can I smoke in the club? No, but we do have a designated smoking area in the back of the club. There are no ins and outs at the club.

14. What are your policies regarding photo/video/audio?
Recording policies are at the bands discretion and change night to night. You may bring your camera with the understanding that you might need to check it with us for the duration of the show.

15. You guys seem fun. Is the Belly Up hiring? We’re always accepting applications. Stop by the box office between 12 and 5 on a weekday to fill out an application. For your convenience, we also have an employment link at the bottom of our website. Simply download the application and e-mail it back.

16. I am involved with a charity or group that would like to raise money at the Belly Up. What should I do?
The Belly Up is very active in the community, and we try to respond to each donation request. With the number of requests we receive, we would appreciate if you follow these guidelines.
*Rent the Club for your own event – Belly Up, Wild Note and Pacific Coast Grill are all available for full venue buy outs. You can throw a private event and use the space for an auction and/or raffle or the event can be open to the public. Contact Beth Bennett at beth@bellyup.com or by 858 481 8040 to hear about options and special charity pricing.
*Partial buyouts into existing shows. Contact Beth at the info below for this.
*Donation requests – please email Meryl at meryl@bellyup.com with the donation request (usually one or two pairs of tickets to an upcoming non sold out show). The donation request should include: the tax ID number of the group, the date of the event, and a contact person.

  • Wild Note Cafe and Pacific Coast Grill – We also own two restaurants that are perfect for charity functions. Please contact beth@bellyup.com to set up a lunch or dinner for your charity, where a portion of the bill gets donated back to your group.
