Ozomatli Biography
Since 1995, Ozomatli have recorded and traveled far from their Los Angeles base to fulfill their mission as culture-mashers and music crusaders. Ozomatli's music - an artful collision of hip hop and salsa, dancehall and cumbia, samba and funk, merengue and comparsa, East LA R&B and New Orleans second line, Jamaican ragga and Indian raga - has long followed a key mantra: it will take you around the world by taking you around L.A. In their time together, Ozomatli have made the transition from hometown heroes to official U.S. State Department Cultural Ambassadors; they have also managed to snap up a couple of Grammy awards along the way.
