Leon Russell Biography

Leon Russell is a legendary musician and songwriter from Tulsa, Oklahoma who has been performing his Southern boogie piano style of gospel-infused rock, blues, and country music for over 50 years. As a four-year-old, Russell was already tinkering with the piano, learning to play the instrument that would soon enough direct his musical career. By the time Russell was in high school, he was already performing at clubs and looking for a way to break into the music scene. Russell transitioned from performing to recording in the 1960s when he moved to Los Angeles to begin working as a session musician. Over time, he began writing and performing with the musicians he worked with; this eventually led not only to slots on other artists' major tours but to a solo career that Russell has pushed along ever since. In 2011, Russell was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the time (50 years and counting!) he has spent playing, touring and recording both as a solo artist and as a supporting musician and writer to some of the biggest names in music.

Though it is nearly impossible to list all of the tours and recording projects Russell has been part of, there are a few in particular that stand out. In addition to leading Joe Cocker's famous Mad Dogs & Englishmen tour, Russell also performed alongside George Harrison at the 1971 Concert For Bangladesh. Over the years, Russell has toured with countless major recording acts, including Edgar Winter, The New Grass Revival, Willie Nelson and Sir Elton John.

Low Volts Biography

Winner of the Best New Artist and Best Blues Album awards at the 2011 San Diego Music Awards, Low Volts is giving the music world a much needed shock to the heart. Often referring to himself as ‘us’ and ‘we’ at live shows, this one-man rock n’ roller provides a wild performance like no other. Featuring a gritty slide-guitar, thunderous kick-drum laden with tambourines and dark, howling vocals, Low Volts creates a thick and heavy sound that easily matches that of a five-piece band. Combining a timeless mixture of rock, blues and soul, Low Volts has managed to encompass the American sound in a raw and extremely unique way.
