Frightened Rabbit Biography
Frightened Rabbit is presently a five-piece band comprised of Scott Hutchison (vocals/guitar), Billy Kennedy (guitar/keyboard), Grant Hutchison (drums/vocals), Andy Monaghan (guitar/keyboard) and Gordon Skene (guitar/keyboard, formerly of Make Model).
While Frightened Rabbit spent their first years focused on honing their sound, the Scottish band has lately gained more attention and is undertaking extensive touring, with some recordings now publicly available. The band's origins are rooted in 2003, when Scott began playing solo shows under the name Frightened Rabbit primarily in support of fellow art-schoolers Shitdisco. Recordings were made on a tascam 4-track recorder, with Scott playing all of the instruments. Though looser, sparser, and certainly more lo-fi in terms of production value, Frightened Rabbit's early demos attest to a burgeoning talent with a defined personality and a now familiar penchant for creating widely-appreciated pop songs.
In 2004, Scott’s brother Grant moved to Glasgow, Scotland to contribute drums to the band's recorded tracks and to join them onstage. The result was a louder and more clearly defined sound that marked the beginning of a wonderful relationship.
