The Amalgamated
Many beers and shows later, we decided to carry forward and re-surface as The Amalgamated – a band compromised of many former members of The Hi-Lites plus a few new faces. Our influences within the group vary greatly from the original sounds of Jamaica (Prince Buster/The Skatalites/Desmond Dekker) to the modern (The Pretenders/Dave Matthews Band/The Sundays) to the obscure (Frank Zappa/Oingo Boingo). Our goal is to play Traditional Ska, Rocksteady and Skinhead Reggae with a San Diego twist for the masses.
