Robin Henkel twice awarded “Best Blues CD” at the San Diego Music Awards and opened shows for Dizzy Gillespie, John MaLaughlin, Bonnie Raitt, Dr John and Arlo Guthrie.

He has performed with the San Diego Symphony, Papa John Creach and Big Jay McNealy.

Early in his childhood Robin was intrigued by the sound of the blues. He reminisces “there was a sound that was different from the other folk music I was listening to as a kid.” At age 11 Robin attended a performance by Josh White in Seattle. This left a huge impression. Since then he has moulded his own style from listening to the masters of country blues—artists such as Robert Johnson, Fred McDowell, Muddy Waters, Elmore James and others.

Years of playing in a variety of bands has left a rhythmic stamp on his musicianship so that today his solo performance of country blues is an awesome “must see.”

Robin says " I am proud and privileged to be able to perform the blues, a music tradition so deep at the root of our culture."
