After meeting in Cincinnati, the Talib and Hi Tek signed to the legendary hip-hop label Rawkus Records. The 1998 release of Black Star, a rap duo of Talib Kweli and fellow rapper and friend Mos Def, gained Kweli additional acclaim. That album also included production by Hi-Tek and set the stage for the monumental 2000 release of “Train of Thought”, Reflection Eternal’s first CD, with the popular singles “Move Somethin’” and “The Blast.” Following “Train of Thought”, the two continued their successes individually. Talib Kweli has since released three popular and creative albums (2002’s Quality, 2004’s The Beautiful Struggle, and 2007’s Ear Drum), has had numerous hit songs like “Get By”, “I Try”, and “Hot Thing”, and has worked with, amongst others, Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, John Legend, Common, and Justin Timberlake. Not to be outdone, Hi-Tek has had an equally successful individual career since the release of Reflection Eternal’s first album. Hi-Tek has released three solo albums (2001’s Hi-Teknology, 2006’s Hi-Teknology 2 – The Chip, and 2007’s Hi-Teknology 3: Underground), has had many popular songs like “Round and Round” and “Where It Started At (NY)”, and has worked with the best in the industry, including Method Man, Mos Def, and D12. Hi-Tek has also worked as a producer for Dr. Dre’s famed Aftermath Entertainment. Having established their success with individual careers, Hi-Tek and Talib Kweli are set to release their long-awaited follow-up album in 2009 entitled “Reflection Eternal.”
