The Marcus Eaton story begins in the unassuming town on Pocatello, Idaho. The son of a songwriter, young Marcus took cue from his dad and began playing guitar at age 9. As Marcus recalls, “We only had one radio station so I spent most of my time doing creative things.”

Marcus Eaton still spends his time exploring creative pursuits. Now Boise-based, Marcus’s quilt musical approach can be heard on his Uninhibited Records debut, The Day The World Awoke. Performing with his former band, Marcus Eaton and the Lobby, this album features 10 original compositions, plus a special mix of the first single “Top of the World.” The album finds Marcus and company forswearing trendy nihilism in favor of a more sublime musical reality. In the soulful world of Marcus Eaton, breezy jazz-folk melodies mingle with R&B-inflicted vocals, primal world rhythms and life affirming lyrics.

Marcus subscribes to the “if you work hard enough, something good will happen” ethic. With local record releases to their credit, Marcus Eaton and the Lobby took every gig they could get, trekking across Utah, Washington, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, and Nevada. Marcus’s reputation at home has earned him and his former band opening shots for Big Head Todd & The Monsters, G. Love & Special Sauce, Jewel and the Young Dubliners.

In an age where angst has become fashion, Marcus’s music creates a genuinely subversive notion – that love, happiness, and the pursuit of creative excellence are more compelling than despair and contrived people.

“My heroes are people like Paul Simon, James Taylor, Bob Marley and Dave Brubeck—really great musicians who have something to say,” says Marcus. “That’s the goal for me – I was my musicianship, performance and content to be as high-quality as my hero’s, because I really want to create something timeless.”
