Have A Cigar

Have a Cigar started out as a tribute band in the truest sense, paying homage to fallen Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright in late 2008 at local open mic sessions. Realizing the intoxicating effect this music had on people, the five Floyd fans pooled their collective talents and focused on presenting the majestic sounds of Pink Floyd to So-cal music fans. Drawing from the many phases of the Floyd catalog, Have a Cigar can blast out note for note versions of much beloved David Gilmore guitar solos as well as using the experimental nature of the band
as inspiration to unleash their own creative talents in the spirit of the Floyd.
From the very first gig the band played, where they performed Dark Side of the Moon in it’s entirety it was evident that the sometimes mellifluous, sometime smoking blues sounds wafting from the stage could make club and concert goers stand and pay rapt attention. Moving from the psychedelic spontaneity of the debut, Piper at the Gates of Dawn to the aural perfection of albums like Dark Side of the Moon, the band weaves through tracks and classic album sides with ease and power while from time to time trading instruments in service of the songs. Often, Pink Floyd used the live concert setting to continue to develop their songs and so to does Have a Cigar invoke this spirit of seeking, searching and expanding the sonic palate of the Floyd oeuvre.
So come, tune in, shine on, and check out Have a Cigar as they light it up at the Belly up..
