Goldfish
No backing tracks here folks, since every Goldfish show has been different since its first gig ten years ago at Winston’s in Ocean Beach.
What began as a local ‘jam band’ started by enthusiastic musicians in love with the funk scene soon became one of San Diego’s premier live entertainment acts with many of the musicians of the most famous funk bands joining Goldfish as members! The Gap Band, Rick James, Earth Wind and Fire and Parliament Funkadelic—these are just a few of the greats in funk and disco from where Goldfish drew its membership.
Throughout the Goldfish history, the only member to remain unchanged was lead singer, David Paskowitz, who left a professional career in surfing and huge cult following of his punk rock band Johnny Monster and the Nightmares to join the Goldfish band of ‘funk freedom fighters’.
It might be unfortunate that disco will never die, but it is the Goldfish decree to give More Power to the Funk until the mother ship lands and takes us back to planet Octobootie—that is if longtime member rap master TJ “The Quake 11.0” Jackson has his way…
