Carlos Culture is reggae DJ based in San Diego, California. He was born In Colombia, South America and moved to Dayton, Ohio at the age of seven. He started djing in clubs in 1992 and has not stopped ever since. With almost 2 decades in the business he is a well experience selector. His favorite music to spin is cultural reggae, but says “I love dancehall music too”. He has been the resident DJ at the WorldBeat Center since 1996.

It all really took off when he went on a vacation to Jamaica in 1988. It was on this trip that he knew that playing reggae music would be become a major part of his life. He remembers “The music pumping out of the speakers was so infectious, I’ve been hooked ever since”. Later, in California, Carlos started Djing in Ocean Beach where he played between sets for bands like Common Sense, Shiloh band, and Zionic. He still plays in OB. He also was an on air jock on 91X with his mentor Makeda Dread alongside Dangerous Dareka. This crew was together for 7 years doing live radio on Sunday nights on Reggae Makossa.

Performing live is what he like best. He has selected for Tippa Irie and Eek-A-Mouse singing on sound system, played at House of Blues for a New Years Party with Slightly Stoopid, He and Makeda were the first reggae DJs ever to perform in Peru and a spring break week in Cabo San Lucas with 91X and Z90 are his most memorable shows. Besides playing national reggae festivals he cites those as his greatest experiences. All in all Carlos Culture “knows the ting” and will be spinning the best in reggae and dancehall music!
