The past two years have been a whirlwind for San Diego-based band, bill. While Jonathan Coyle, David Marciano, Michael Cannon & Dagart Allison have been busy touring in support of their first full-length album, ‘Birthday Suit’, they have garnered praise and play throughout the industry.
bill received national recognition when Rolling Stone named them one of the “Best 25 bands on Myspace” then again shortly afterwards, landing in the first position of iTunes’ Staff Favorites. Before Birthday Suit was even released on CD it was a podcast favorite, making bill one of the most played bands of the format. While at home the guys earned local recognition when nominated by the San Diego Music Awards as “Best Pop Band 2006″.
After two exciting years with ‘Birthday Suit,’ the band began writing their most personal album yet. Drawing inspiration from fellow musicians throughout the country, recording the new album took them across both national and stylistic borders. After mixing with legendary Steve Thompson (John Lennon, Guns N’ Roses, Madonna), the band is now prepared to release their sophomore work, titled ‘End of the Hits’. The ten-song disc is a complex recipe of captivating melodies, rich harmonies, and arrangements that reminds people that pop music can still be creative.
The upcoming year holds great promise for bill as they prepare to launch ‘End of the Hits’ from hometown San Diego on March 14, 2008 with tours of the East and West Coasts to follow.
